Motion Designer/Animator (After Effects)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Motion Designer/Animator to join our team on a full-time basis. We’re looking for a creative, passionate storyteller, with an array of creative and technical skills to join us as we expand our animation and motion design services. You will be working closely with Sandbox’s leadership, media, and design teams. You will feel just as comfortable animating an illustrative, story-driven piece as you do creating informational motion graphics for a mixed-format video. You’ll contribute to a range of projects by supporting visual research, concept development, storyboarding, and design—while taking the lead on executing animated and motion graphic elements across various media products.

You will support:

  • The leadership team in interpreting client and partner objectives
  • The development of smart visual concepts to help our clients tell their stories and communicate their impact
  • The creation of moodboards, storyboards, and style frames that communicate Sandbox’s vision to our clients and get them excited about the final product
  • The creation of graphics and illustrations to design and prep final assets

You will contribute and be responsible for:

  • Strong character rigging and animation skills to bring assets to life
  • Delivering a high level of quality control on your responsibilities throughout projects
  • Collaborating with internal team members and freelancers including illustrators, graphic designers, and video editors
  • Assessing client feedback and proposing solutions that meet Sandbox’s and our clients’ objectives and best interests

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Degree or diploma in animation, motion design, graphic design, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-10 years experience in animation and/or motion design
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and other Adobe Creative Cloud software, including using the programs in collaboration with video editors
  • Experience working in Figma and producing Lotties for web-based projects
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to interpret and apply creative direction and feedback
  • Proficiency in a range of 2D animation styles, from character animation to informational motion graphics
  • Strong character rigging skills
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to revisions efficiently
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • An understanding of AODA and WCAG media accessibly guidelines

Bonus if you have…

  • Experience with both video and audio editing, including sound design
  • Experience overseeing/mentoring small creative teams
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish
  • Strong illustration and/or graphic design skills
